The brief: This family of four wanted a versatile garden space that felt bright, contemporary and full of character. The design needed to feel open, preserve a much-loved eucalyptus tree, and include features to make the garden feel larger and more dynamic.

Interior: Cornerless bi-folding doors define the space, opening the room fully to the garden and creating a strong indoor-outdoor connection. A simple interior palette of white walls and light flooring keeps the space feeling calm and bright, allowing the abundance of natural light and greenery to take centre stage.

Exterior: A generous roof overhang was carefully designed to accommodate the existing eucalyptus tree, creating a sheltered outdoor area. An outdoor wallpaper by Wall&Deco adds visual interest, while horizontal cedar cladding gives the building a clean, contemporary look. A composite deck provides a practical, durable and elegant transition between the room and the garden.

The result: The finished summer house is warm, modern and full of personality. Thoughtfully designed around both the family’s lifestyle and the surrounding garden, it feels like a natural extension of the home that is equally suited to work, relaxation and entertaining.
