PROJECT DETAILS
Right from the first phone conversation we were told that the owners of this beach facing garden were looking for something special. They had searched far and wide, but no other company was able to present them with the unusual design they wanted for the garden studio, not to mention building it.
During the first meeting we talked about the use of the studio, position and the need for something unique. After our first site survey we started designing something different. We proposed two options and after one was chosen we started work on it.
The room is only a few square metres – just enough to fit an artist with an easel – but its irregular shape makes for a great studio. With doors and windows equipped with integrated blinds and the entire construction insulated from top to bottom, this building doesn’t get hot even in the middle of a heat wave.
The most important visual aspect of the project was the exterior finish. It was the first time we had used this type of material – cement particle boards – but it was the only material that would survive many years in these seaside conditions. This little garden studio is right on the beach, meaning that storms can send thousands of litres of salty water at high speed across the surface, this does not end well for many building materials.
The final result is unusual, attractive and unique. Passers who walk on the beach are divided in their opinions. Some don’t get it, most of them love it, and all of them look at it. The owners are delighted with the final result and use it as planned.
